Read this before you buy a fairness cream.

Harmful fairness creams in India

I am glad finally someone geared up enough courage to speak against the usage of fairness creams that are sold in India and shamelessly endorsed by actors like Shah Rukh Khan.

You don't have to take my word girls. Read today's Times of India's Bangalore Times edition.

The article by Sandra Fernandes opened up nicely by saying,"We are a nation obsessed with fairness and the number of products endorsed by actors and actresses are proof that this obsession is here to stay"

So what's wrong with these Fairness lotions?
They are said to contain Steroids. The reporter did not point out to any particular fairness cream, Oh, I wish she had done that.

These Steroid Based Creams aka SBCs are easily available in general stores and medical shops. Several respected dermatologists too have voiced their concern against the usage of SBC.

"A study done by the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists reveals that over 10% of fairness cream users use SBCs."
Some of them are:
Dr Venkataram dermatologist and president, 12th Edition of World Congress of Cosmetic Dermatologists (WCOCD)
Dr BS Chandrashekar, Secretary General, WCOCD.

Both of them have demanded that, "DISTRIBUTION OF OVER THE COUNTER SBCs SHOULD BE STOPPED and the government needs to address such issues and must have stringent laws in place".

Here is a non-steroid Fairness Cream with no Mercury that is labeled to be safe.
